Have arrived in Belgium. Arrived on the outskirts of Ypres before we realised we had even crossed the border. So much for Brexit non-open borders, no free passage, passports at dawn and no bacon. What border? I was looking forward to another stamp in my nice new blue passport.

Found the Campsite which is a spit from the Menin gate, broke camp and then went for a walk and dinner.

The Menin Gate is one of those items on my life's bucket list list

Out of the 54000 names on the Memorial, we finally found the one we wanted. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

The ceremony is simple, poignant and very moving and was packed with people from all nations. We have laid a wreath to all 7 members of the family at the foot of a panel where one is named. We have people 4 in France, 2 in Belgium and 1 in Palestine, now Israel

Tomorrow is a fun day, off to Brugges by train
