Why Iceland? Because Iceland is on my life’s bucket list of “things to do”.

Well… other than Puffins, whales, hot springs, unpronounceable place names, eye-watering prices, a population intent on getting trollied every Friday night and where everyone is seemingly called Magnus Magnusson, why not?

Roger is convinced he is going to see Penguins. The only penguins he will see are if I make a dash to Tescos and buy him a packet of them!

In the next few days, we plan to do the following

• Take a bath at the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa
• See the spectacular Haukadalur geyser which erupts every few minutes
• Reykjavik: Visit the Hallgrimskirkja (church) and the National Museum
• Go whale watching. Take a trip from Reykjavik harbour to see the huge humpback whales
